Mate needs best monitor - £250 max

he plays quite a lot of games and uses the computer for msn quite a lot. He needs pretty good viewing angles - doesnt have to be amazing, but needs to be reasonablie- preferably widescreen, but thats only what I would choose. If theres a non widescreen which is much better, have that, and finally, it needs to be at least 19"

at that price range he should be looking at the viewsonic 19inchers i think

if you want to keep well within budget, the Acer AL1916W is very popular, as is the Samsung 913N (if you decided you wanted 4:3 aspect instead). You may also want to consider the Viewsonic VX922 which is arguably the best gaming monitor out there at the moment. Only a little over budget
