Core 2 is not much fun. If I remember correctly, there's bits on finding solutions to sinusoidal equations ie cos(x) = y.

If these come up, remember that there's always two solutions - two values x can take. If you're not convinced draw yourself a cosine wave or the unit-circle and you'll what I mean.

Also if you end up with (cos(x))^2 = y then there are 4 values for x.

This was something I completely forgot on C2

This. Also writing things out in full means you'll get marks for working, even if your final answer is wrong. If you skip steps and get the wrong answer you'll get fewer marks than you would if you wrote everything down and ended up with the same answer.
 
Hang on, I just looked up this core nonsense and it appears that you have had pure 1-3 split into core 1-4, meaning the same content but over more exams, and dropping a whole unit in the process (such as stats/mechanics 2).

Tell me I'm mistaken, as I can't believe they'd drop a whole unit and make it that much easier =/

You need 6 modules for an A Level. C1, C2, C3 and C4 are compulsory. Typically you'd then do Mechanics 1 and Mechanics 2, or Stats 1 or 2.

The maths A level is one that has definitely got easier though. Loads of stuff has been moved into the further maths syllabus.

Yea also luckily it is really late June 17th so means I will have a good 2 weeks solid revising that. Few tricky areas like simplex! Next year at a2 goi g to do a physics as instead at our 6th form general studies
 
OH DEAR I didnt realise how incredibly dumb I truly am until I seen this thread :( Jesus I havent the faintest what you guys are talking about
 
I chose to do further maths. I'm in my first year of A levels and took Core 1, Core 2 and Stats 1 in January and am taking Core 3, Core 4 and Stats 2 in a few weeks time. Got Further Pure 1 + 3, Mechanics 1 + 2 and Decision 1 + 2 all to look forward to next year.

C1 is pretty easy once you've got the basic methods down. Its rarely any hard numbers, so its fairly obvious when you've got the right answer. Just avoid sign errors. I full marked that exam :).
