Maths or English Degree?

Maths will be more useful in the real world, personally I'd do that, but that's just because I have far more interest in the subject than English.

Erm I'm not sure a diploma in either will help you out, a degree on the other hand might well do.

Either way I'd do maths, cos it rocks.

Maths. I don't think you'll get many in favour of English judging by the quality of some peoples posts :p (although I'm probably a main offender).

Maths. I have a maths degree and it's awesome. Tell someone you have a maths degree, and they look at you as if you're some fount of wisdom on all things numerical. Or they look at you as if you have an extra ear on your forehead. It's a toss-up.

Seems that way :D

Didn't actually think there would be the massive tidal wave of support for Maths, but even I have to admit, it would probably open up more doors for me in the future than an English degree. Though I did always fancy myself as a journalist or in a similar profession, but it pays peanuts unfortunately.

I'd say be careful though about choosing maths, it's probably one of the few subjects that you REALLY do need to have a natural ability at to be at all successful. I don't know what level you are at, but having a look at something like MST209 (might have a new code now) as that's contains mid first year - mid second year type "traditional" uni material.

The OU maths courses are excellent though, couldn't rate the material highly enough.
