Honestly, some of you people are way too harsh.
It could have been years and years before he's just touching on maths again. Fractions are probably something he hasn't encountered since he was 16, and if he is 30, that is a long time without using it. He'll forget stuff if he doesn't use it. Give him a bloody break. At least he wants to learn.
