Sent to me this morning by a friend who happens to be a maths teacher.

By the way if anyone wants to know the formula for this (bet most people did it by trial and error) it is thus.....

15/(1-((1/2)+((1/2)/4)+(((1-((1/2)+(1/2)/4))/3)*2)))=120
 
Josh spent 1/2
Josh spent 1/4
Josh spent 2/3
Josh has £15

£15 / (1 - 2/3) = £15 * 3
£45 / (1 - 1/4) = £30 * 4/3
£60 / (1 - 1/2) = £60 * 2


The most confusing parts about this sort of question is always the english, the maths itself is trivial, even for the kids.
