I left home today in order to move into my warden flat and I have a brand new small double matress, which is rock hard.
After 30 mins on Amazon I realised haven't a flipping clue about matresses.
My comfy bed at home I was able to try in a bed shop

It seems most toppers are memory foam, but come in various qualities and tend to be from 1-3 inches thick.
Does anyone much about matress toppers?
