mATX Q6600 Water Cooled Build

looks great, I did a watercooled xqpack about 2 years ago and it was a bloody nightmare, mind you I shoehorned a gfx block and a 5.25 bayres in there too and you couldn't get kits like this then.

Still, sweet work, made me smile when I saw you having to chop away the shell, brought back memories :)

thats what I ended up with.

Heh, wow nice Matt100, somehow you are the one person of whom I am not surprised you did something like that, you nutta :p

lol, cheers :)

I did a shuttle sn25p too but thats a whole other story, I love it when people put the time and effort into getting systems in places they shouldn't. Got no time for people with stackers and external watercooling.. lazy lazy lazy ;)

Looks like this was a bit too popular and my ISP removed my site for being over quota. :)

I'll get the pics up later today.

Switched the pics over to photobucket after checking the URL of matt100's pic :) Should all work now.

Matt100 whats the blue box on the back of yours? Also do you have any other pics of the build?

Not to worry I found it! here

its all in here mate..

the whole sorry story, it was a bit of a nightmare but a lot of the issues were around the hardware. Suffice to say I've got better at building PCs since then.

The next one is going to be very special but quite a lot bigger :)

Good job Biffa.
Thanks for sharing :)

I prefer user reviews from ones on review sites, and the above is very well detailed....dare I say "honest" ;)

Newp, shouldn't be that different to a normal Q6600 with big cooler I imagine. The intergrated pump on the waterblock only pulls 0.69A and the fan can be 7V'ed if you so require but even if its not its max is 0.23A

I guess what he's asking about is the PSU, I hope its been uprated since the one I had, that was an ATX 1.1 or something similar, basically it didn't meet dual core intel specs which is why I had so much trouble making mine boot but clearly you haven't have that problem :p

You mean the 420W one it came with? THAT went pop last year sometime, it shorted out, one of the wires in the case got too hot and melted through and touched something which blew the PSU.

I think the X-Qpack 2 has a 500W one now. Anyway mine had a 450W Sparkle for a while, but its now got a 500W Silverstone ST50EF-Plus-SC super silent, 80 PLUS, short cable v.1 ROHS PSU. Bit of a mouthfull but its got nice short cables for mATX cases :)
