Mavericks: Proving Grounds 400 Player Battle Royale !!!

Unless 1000 people are very spread out and the map is huge its going to be a ****show from start to finish and surviving the first 10 minutes will be more down to sheer luck than skill. If the map is huge games could take hours as well. I haven't played fortnite or PUBG but this seems too far.

You wont have 1000/400 people in the same zone so not really true 1000/400 people.

will work how MAG worked that supported 256 players

We had 64 player online FPS with BF1942 16 years ago. Surely hardware has moved on far enough that hundreds of players are possible.

Planetside 1 was released in 2003 - each map held 3 teams with a cap of 166 each (later dropped to 133), so that was 498 (later 399) per server in a fps (with vehicles) 15 years ago! That should be the benchmark....

hoping this is great. a big hope game of many on here also 29th of august for the forge part of it.

so if i read that right the folk that paid up to be founders expecting to get into the game early have been shafted (apart from the guff that also came with the founders pack) as everyone will get access now on the 29th? (or whenever they release it)

if that's true then it's pretty poor form and i'd expect those who paid for a founders pack to get a partial refund or something else added. not a good sign of i'm reading it properly.

well i think they changed their ideas based on what pubg have done recently with the fixing pubg campaign.basically Mavericks needs a big player base to work.400 players a game.thats a lot.so they need those players.with he forge program i think they will let loads play straight away to get the playerbase in.as for the founders pack who knows. if the game is a success and you can sell the gun or item/s then like pubg jackets shoes for early founders.

50/50 on it we will see soon.

oh yea i get that but what it tells me is that they are happy to screw their early backers over with nary an apology. that, as i said, doesn't sit well with me and doesn't bode well for the future. they should have at least apologised to those that had bought the founders pack expecting exclusive early access (albeit as glorified testers)

well it depends how you look at it. they arent really screwing anyone over. if you brought the founders pack just to get in early you arent really there for the project anyway you probably just want it early, or are a streamer youtuber.like many are. i agree that they should have handled it better but think its one of the games this year which has a chance of being great.not saying it will or won. 50/50 on it but it sounds more interesting than bf5 or anything much else.so willing to give it a chance

huh?
they arent really screwing anyone over
course they are, they miss-sold the founders pack so they have screwed everyone over who bought it. if part of your sales pitch for something includes a certain 'thing' and you then remove that 'thing' without reaplcing it with something else then you are screwing all those that bought it especially those who bought purely for that 'thing'. whether everyone who bought it view it that way is irrelevant.

i doubt the majority of the sales were to streamers or youtubers (although no doubt there would have been those who wanted ea solely for that) vast majority would have been ordinary joes who just wanted to try it as soon as possible.

I am a touch annoyed that as a "founder" i'm not guaranteed any part in the first few play tests. It was clarified last night via their discord that the first ~1000 players in the stress tests will be cherry picked based upon the questionnaire results.

I don't expect to get in as i've got a 8700k, 1080ti which i'm betting is a very popular cpu/gpu combo and they'll most likely want a decent cross section of hardware.

so are they offering anything by way of compensation (even if just in game stuff) for founders that are no longer getting exclusive early access?

Not that i'm aware of, they're not even guaranteeing that everyone gets in after the 29th either, although it's been heavily implied that founders will be getting first access.

Then again that's a bit confusing as i'm sure anyone who signs up prior to release becomes a "founder".

I'm a little impatient, the idea of 400/1000 player BR, even with the bugs and problems that may go along with it is just too enticing for me. I think it's the first large scale game using SpatialOS (think that's the name) for server balancing as well so be interesting to see if it fixes a lot of the issues that single server MP suffers with.

so they've screwed over their ea founders? sound like a qulity set up. i was hoping this would do well, now i hopw it crashes and burns without a trace and leaves them out of pocket - not that that will happen and i'll be grinding it if it becomes a sucess!! :p
but if they've screwed people once thye'll do it again, guaranteed.

theyve reworded some thing changed things around. not screwed anyone.they need to get it right for launch something has made their approach change for some reason. if they clever and know what they doing it will be the right move and may make the game a success. 400 players a game you need a lot of people playing. lets see how it plays and if it plays first .rather than they screwed everyone. early access is so many things and many see if differently.

as much as i hate EA approach and being burned by some games in EA of the past i havent seen anything of this game to judge it yet.so just cause they moved the goal posts a little on ea backers not going to write it off. by the way are you a EA backer ? as this would explain much of how you replying ?
