Once i have mavericks on USB, can i throw my old drive out, put in a SSD and install?

Some users say it doesn't work like that as it does for windows systems.

When I swapped out SSDs in the last upgrade it went something like this:

1) Download Mavericks, pull out ESD and write to USB. Test boot.
2) Backup to TM.
3) Install new SSD.
4) Boot USB, install Mavericks.
5) Point migration assistant at TM backup, go and have a beer.

That's cool, it's just some users were saying there SSD's were never found. I'll see what happens, shouldn't be a problem.

Depends on what SSD.

Personally I would only use Samsung, Crucial or Intel in a Mac. Or Toshiba, but I've not had the pleasure.

Avoid OCZ, or anything with Sandforce in it.

Actually was planning using my spare 120gb crucial m.2 ssd in a adaptor bracket.
