mavity (2013)

Likewise - it's Hunger Games now at the Imax in Manchester.

I'll go see it at the Cineworld near me. I can see it in 3D there, and it's a fairly new cinema so fairly well kitted out.

I saw it as a Cineworld screen, and it was fine... Just try and get as near to the middle of the screen as possible obviously.

Our local Odeon has an IMAX screen, and it was worth it. Cost us £10 each - not really much (Orange Wednesday). Definitely worth it. Normally I'd pay for premiere seats, annoyingly I wasn't able to this time.

Might risk it on normal 3d then as no Imax.

Went to see this on normal 3d. I found it stunning, the only time where 3d has added to the film. Genuinely gutted I didn't get to see it on IMAX though as i'm sure that would have been even better.

As I said earlier, as I've seen it on both formats (IMax 3D and regular 3D), the Imax was a bit clearer, but it didn't seem substantial!

And as I said before, I wouldn't pay 3x the money and drive further to repeat the IMax experience again :)

Did you find yourself a tad dizzy a couple of times?

Has anyone seen this twice? I'm really tempted. I don't normally feel that way about many films...

Yeah

Saw it in Imax Last Wednesday ( college trip) then normal 3D in cineworld on Saturday night

Night and day. The normal 3D was blurry...But my daughter has the experience in her life which is the main thing on the big screen.

Why is this not showing at any decent times at the BFI Imax.

Midnight or 9am. Brilliant.

I though they would have it on for another week but the next blockbuster comes along and they will give it priority. Nothing new there.

Me & the GF thought it was crap tbh. We weren't impressed with the trailer but so many people had been praising it we thought we'd go, wish we hadn't. Waste of £9.40 each.

There were some very long "single takes" in the film - be they faked/CGI'd. Anyone know how long the longest "single take" was? Must have been several minutes at least?

I was expecting something with a bit more originality and unpredictability tbh, didn't like the plot at all. Hated all of the dialogue as well and thought the scene where Matt **************

Yep, the plot was linear, some of the dialog was a little clunky. And I also had a problem with the physics of the scene you refer to.

But as a roller coaster visual experience, done in a new visually original and impressive way, I enjoyed it!

After a quick google, the opening scene seems to be the longest, at just 17 minutes long!!!

Off to see it tonight at the BFI,

heard a whole load of hype about it and it's right up my street - watched the first 20 seconds of the trailer before I had to turn it off due to excitement :D

canne wait.

I didn't think the opening scene was one shot  I thought it was just very smart edits.

Slightly off topic but if you're interested in single takes, try watching a film called Russian Ark (D. Aleksandr Sokurov, 2002) which is a filmed in a single take :).

Link.
