mavity (2013)

Got back a couple of hours ago from watching this - amazing.
Loved it from beginning to end. So much peril, but oh so well acted and the effects are stunning.
Didn't get to see it in IMAX, but a film where I feel the 3D just worked so well - space is vast and 3D makes it so.

Excellent film.

Wow. What a film.

Saw it today and I left the cinema a mess. Sandra Bullock was immense and the film was beautifully shot, especially the first sequence. This wasn't even a film I was particularly interested in, maybe that's why enjoyed it so much. It was utterly tense and gripping from start to finish.

Another thing, I don't like 3d, it's a crap and pointless gimmick in pretty much every film I've seen but I had no choice but to watch it in 3d. It was perfect for this. Brilliant.

Brilliant film at the BFI Imax, everything about the experience was incredible, apart from the adverts which seemed to last ages.

Much better than when I went to go and see Harry Potter and had to sit at the side :(

Got to see this as I have the hots for Bullock ever since speed...

She didn't disappoint great film well acted we can see a slew of technical oscars for this if nothing else.

Just got back from seeing this at a regular cinema in 3d, it was brilliant. I want to go see it again at the Imax.

Saw it on imax this morning, add me to the "it was amazing" pile. Made my wife feel ill for most of it though!

Sidenote: What's with the adverts on imax now? When I've been previously there were a couple of trailers that started on the dot of the show time then they rolled the film. Sat through 15 minutes of wall-to-wall TV adverts in the Odeon today before the trailers started.

Was pretty decent. Although I still find 3d a lot less satisfying than watching it in Hi-def. Its not as bright or as detailed which gets to me a lot. Found my self taking the glasses off sometimes because its a PITA!

I'm the same mate. I won't watch a film in 3d unless it's at the IMAX.

Think I might have to watch this again on the big screen as I really don't think it will have anywhere near the impact it has on the big screen. Might take my dad to see it, I think he would love it. Haven't seen a film more then once at the cinema since E.T!

I popped my 3d cherry with this last night, regular 3d, not imax.

It was a good film but I thought I was going to be blown away and I wasn't.

I can remember the first time I watched the beach landing on Saving Private Ryan at the cinema and from the reviews I was thinking this was going to be a similar experience. It wasn't.
I don't believe it will stand the test of time.
7.5/10

Wanted to see it with friends this weekend but all cinemas run it in 3d, the only non 3D show was 11:30 and 17:30 during week so it looks like we'll have to wait for electronic version. :(
