I walked out the BFI IMAX with a big grin on my face last night and thought the film was excellent. I did say last night on Facebook it was best film I've seen in years however after sleeping on it, I would just put it down to be a unique and stunningly visual film but with a simple disaster/survival film set in our true reality of space i.e. ISS, Chinese & Russian space stations.
The use of music and the threat of peril was really well done and kept me to edge of my seat at times. I like the sentimental parts where the camera just pans out to space or to the Earth and I felt like I was experiencing it too. I know that sounds cheesey but cos of the BFI IMAX screen it did feel sooo huge and vast out there in space.
The 3D could have been a little better, I think that was more down to where I was sat in the IMAX though. Row G was more in the middle than further back and as I am long sighted I struggled to see a lot of the 3D effects in full focus and was hurting my head.
I'd watch again 1 more time on blu ray just to see it visually on a normal tv and watch the extras too. However I wouldn't say it was going to be watched again and again
