MAximum strength, Maximum POOOWER! :D

Im looking at setting up a few devices together from one wall socket later. But not sure it will be safe:eek:

Devices are:
1x24" 1x22" 2x15" monitors
2 PCs
2 printers/fax
Sky box
Modem
and a few more low power devices

Should be ok right? just daisy chain some surge protectors together.

Whats the most you all have plugged into one wall socket?

I wouldn't do all of that to one socket myself. Although I'm no whizz on those matters so it might technically be perfectly safe.

I wouldn't try to draw more than 2.5-3kw max from a single socket... most extensions come fitted with 10 or 13amp fuses, really I'd stay under 2kw max. The problem is really the plug/fuse/extension lead rather than the socket tho.

The theoretical max is 3200W, but I would indeed try to stay under this. I doubt you're averaging much over 1KW with that equiptment :)

Devices are:
1x24" 1x22" 2x15" monitors (~120w, 100w, 2x 70w)
2 PCs (2x ~300w)
2 printers/fax (average 400w when in use)
Sky box (~50w)
Modem(~10w)
and a few more low power devices(~20w tops)

totals up at 1840watts so say 2kw peak you should be fine

Thanks for the advice all! Im going to test it then. If it does blow, then will get some pics up for the lols

if only if had one of those power reader thingys.

P = VR

Max recommended loading for a single socket is 13amps therfore max wattage on 240v is 3120W.

Morden circuit boards will trip out if you draw too much. However, older houses won't and the wires in your wall will overheat and can potentially start a fire.

However you are well under so you will be okay.

on 1 socket from 4 extensions going around the room i have:

2 lamps
1 19" monitor
1 pc 450W PSU
2 20" monitors
Z5500s
xbox 360 battery charger
1 xbox 360 stearing wheel
1 fish tank - light/heater/filter
1 bluray player
1 phone hub dock thing
1 xbox 360
42" plasma tv
1 hd sky box
1 husky fridge
1 fan
1 hair dryer/straightners
big dell laser printer

pretty much on all the time are

2 pcs
all monitors
tv
sky
fish tank
phone
lamp
printer

too much?

has been like this for 3 years ish.

Pushing it a bit if its a fairly high wattage hairdryer + plasma + PC all going at the same time but it should be ok - PC won't be drawing 450watt ever - most likely around 100-150 idle and 200-300 when loaded.

Simples: Add up the wattages of each or check the ampage and multiply by 240 and if it's more than 3120W then it's too much. Just because you haven't hand an electrical fire yet does not make it safe. ;)

not claiming its safe and have no idea how to work out the watts of everything without measuring all with a wattage measurer i dont have.

You don't need to. Most transformers will give you the info you need. Things like you pc, you can take the worst case scenario as in the max wattage.

Other thing link tv have manuals which list max wattage.

To get the ultimate worst case scenario open each plug and check the fuses. Although some stupid companies put 13 amp fuses in when the appliance draws only 1 amp.
