Max Core 2 Duo Overclocks at Default Voltage Info

Concorde Rules - E6600, P5B-Deluxe, Stock Cooler, VCore 1.208, Overclock 2.9
Concorde Rules - E6600, P5B-Deluxe, Stock Cooler, VCore 1.257, Overclock 3.12

Which one is default volts in the bios m8?

think i got to 3.8-4ghz on stock V. That was with a 6700 and phase cooling so it would always clock further at -60.

No proof tho, or the chip anymore, so kinda useless really

E6400 Retail

CPU Batch Number - L629A725
Motherboard - ASUS P5B Deluxe w/WiFi BIOS 0711
Cooling - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Actual VCore in use - 1.32 (bios says 1.35) - Dont actually know what stock is! It says 1.35v MAX on the box
Overclock - 3.2 (400x8)

Only ran Orthos for 6hrs last night (in Blend mode) and came out ok. Just out of interest... what is the best mode to test Orthos (or Prime95) - Small FFT, Large FFT , or Blend?

I havent had an Intel since having a Celeron (i think a slot cpu @ 266) YEARS ago. Still cannot believe how well these CPUs overclock! :D

E6400 Batch L630
Gigabyte 965P-DS3
Arctic Freezer 7 (OCUK out of stock of Ninja!)
Default V
3.2ghz - not tried higher yet
Orthos for 3 hours

Just set the board to default/auto in the bios m8.

You have to be careful with certain motherboards..... I left my CPU volts on AUTO when overclocking and noticed that Probe temp alarm kept going off.... realised the vcore was at 1.5v!

How many of these overclocks are with the memory at stock Vdimm or slightly overvolted. Also, has anyone had to slacken their memory timings at all?

e6600 , Asus p5B Vanila, 2GB G.Skill hz.

Intel stock cooler and vcore ( 1.31 under load)

Just passed orthos @ 3150mhz (350 x9 - memory 1:1 @ auto Vdimm)

FPO/BATCH# L629A959

Evrything on mine was unchanged from std bar the FSB to 400.... easy!

I'm using Corsair Value RAM PC4300 (which is what's holding me back), so I'm running it at 2.3V against 1.8V standard)

I do think it's quite funny how people are recommending the DS3 or DS4 with E6300 or E6400 as a cheap overclocking solution, but you need to spend almost £200 on RAM to get a decent overclock and £300 to get the maximal overclock.

I paid less than £100 for mine. It was built primarily as a Folding rig with the odd game being played on it or watching movies/listening to music. For those uses, 1Gb of RAM is plenty - in fact, several of my rigs have 2Gb RAM and I have only once seen one of them go over 1Gb used at one time (that was encoding 2 videos at the same time and browsing the web - and even then, it was only a little over). There is little need for most people to have 2Gb of RAM in their systems.

My Vdimm is at 2.1v. The bios sets it at 1.8v but Geil suggest 2.1-2.3v iirc.

I agree that 1GB is plenty. However even 1Gb of value RAM is now pushing £100 - and most people are speccing 2Gb now.

But they are not speccing PC4300 or 5300 - they're speccing PC6400 or PC 8000, sometimes even PC8500. And the latest thing is low latency DDR2 - PC8000 at 3-3-3-8! £350!

I'm at 425mhz atm with a 6300 on a DS3. I tried going higher but I get freezes , blackscreens, etc, thats why I was asking about changing ram timings/voltages. :)

yeah but I can check it ;)

cpu-z says 1.175 even under load, cpuid says 1.292, the bios says auto and I seem to be topping out at 3ghz????

maybe I should try harder :(
