Max DSL upload query

I have just checked my line stats from my router and they are:

Line attenuation is 31.5 (up) and 54 (down)

SN/R is 23 (up) and 28.5 (down)

The above stats are taken off my 1 Mb line.
I notice that my upload SN/R is nearly as high as my download SN/R so does this mean that I have a good chance of getting the maximum 448 Kb upload speed or is this just wishful thinking?

Also is it possible with Max DSL to actually be worse off than on 'standard' ADSL :confused:

I am planning on migrating to Zen next month when my current 12 month contract is up and (apparently) Max DSL packages is all they offer now!

When I type my telephone number into BT's broadband checker it says that I may be able to get 3 Mb but until I am actually on Max DSL there is no way of knowing.
Is there any chance that I could actually be worse off due to the 0.5 Mb steppings i.e. I could be downgraded to a 512 Kb service with Max DSL?

I do have a stable 1 Mb connection so I don't think it's very likely to happen is it?

i dont think you will be worse off id say youl get 2meg minimum line checker for me says 6.5meg upto 8 meg

yea i would worry mate when i run the line checker it said 5Mb but i have managed to get the rull 8

Excellent news about possibly doubling my download speed to 2 Mb but what about an increase in my upload speed?
There is no mention of this in the BT checkers!

Would 23 dB be enough to get a faster upload speed or is (generally speaking) the full 448 Kb only achievable where people are living close to the exchange?

Has anyone who has been on Max DSL for the 10 day 'bedding in' period actually achieved the full upload speed with a similar SN/R as mine i.e. 23 dB?

most people will get the full 448 up speed. well, put it this way. i have yet to see an account of someone not getting that speed.
i cant remember what the up SNR was for my line before MAX but atm it is 21db
i would be very suprised if you didnt get the max upload speed.

Don't think there's been any reports of anyone getting a lower upload speed.
For some reason, seems like upstream rate adaption's been killed off (not that most folks saw it on the old products anyway).

You have almost the same stats as me, I will be interested in what speed you get before I take the plunge.

I saw somone who was on 512k and "upgraded" to MAXDSL and it was actually syncing at the same upload but slightly lower than 512k download. Owch.

But it was the day it was activated, hopefully it has increased now.

No problem but as my current contract doesn't expire for around 6 weeks, can you wait that long?
