Max line speed

I'm wrong then, I'm sure I seen it used a newer chipset, doesn't matter both fantastic routers.

Edit, its the DG834N sorry that's what I ment.

Very nice stats, even with 9dB attenuation down you're still looking at the full 24 megs if you could get it. You'll certainly have very little trouble on ADSL Max. If I wasn't on cable now I'd be very jealous of you indeed! :D

Get a DG834GT. Check a certain well known auction site for ex Sky ones, that have been flashed with DGTeam or similar firmware. You can get them for £10 to £20 if you keep your eye out. That's way less than your £50 budget and it's an awesome router. Win/win. :)

Hi all. Quick little update. My dad managed to borrow a router off a friend. Unfortunately it's a tiscali branded Siemens thing which looks pretty poor.

I tried to install it but the setup cd wont complete without a valid tiscali login (which I obviously don't have). I've tried setting it up manually by connecting to the router but I can't get it to work. The only page I can see with settings is this:

tisc.jpg

I tried putting in the info I have but it said that the VCI value was already in use. I'm guessing that info will only work if you have tiscali login information anyway. Is there anything else I can try or shall I just go for a DG834GT?

Also, is there anything I should look out for with the DG834GT's on the auction site? Any particular models/firmware to avoid? I don't like buying from there but seeing as OCuk don't stock it and everywhere else it's 5 times the price I think I'll have to.

Thanks again.

**Edit** - Worth updating the firmware on my current US Robotics router? On the USR website the latest firmware is 4 years old so it might not be of much uses!

Na, the ex-Sky ones are all much of a muchness. Just grab one that has already been flashed if you can (i.e. updated to 'normal' non-Sky firmware) as it'll save you a bit of hassle. It's not a biggie though so just grab a cheap one that comes with at least the power supply. You won't need the setup CD.
