wow just looked at max payne 3 on the rockstar page, due for winter 2009 or early 2010 but what the F is going on? why is Max Payne fat and bold without his jacket etc, looks totally different and taking a holiday is San Juan, Brazil or whatever it is? what the hell are the devs playing at? i really hope the game is good............any ideas on what they are trying to achieve lads?
 
I believe the storyline is something like it's 8 years after the events of Max Payne 2 and he has drifted from Bad to Worse in the devs own words and he now works in Private Security.

I'm disappointed it was in Brazil as I was hoping for another City during the Winter and to try to retain that dark atmosphere the last 2 have carried but the screenshots I've seen seem to show a more lighter atmosphere.
 
So you're all jumping on that bandwagon already, sigh.

The first two were great, and if they stick to that formula there's no reason why they won't make another awesome game.

Yes rockstar seems dead certain with raping my very good memories of max payne, the game even has a cover system :(
 
I doubt it will be quite up to the previous two games but like virtually all PC game releases (today), they are still pretty good all in all, imo.

That's the thing though. They aren't sticking to formula.

The first two were dark, gritty, film noir style games. Max Payne is a slim, dark haired, tortured character. These are well established elements in the Max Payne series, none of which appear to be present in Max Payne 3. As a result, it's probably going to be a very run of the mill game.

To add insult to injury, they don't have the original writers and probably won't use the original voice actors. As a huge Max Payne fan, that's like rubbing salt in the wounds already left by the Max Payne movie.

Like farcry last year, just another generic shooter, with an established shooters name on the cover.
 
I'm hoping that we will see Max in a very destroyed state. Maybe he tried to get away from the wintery scenarios we have seen him before because his past haunts him too much? Are people out to hunt him down because of this past ventures? Does he really just want to be left alone? Am I really bored?..... Maybe.

At the end of the day we know very little about this game, so I'm keeping my expectations to a minimum.

Cover systems are a bit of a must have now, if it didnt have one i would be shocked specialy as its R*!

If it has a great story and good game mechanics then thats all i am looking for. I dont get people who say 'but it looks nothing like the first ones!' why would you want a game that looked the same as the first, they already did that in the first one....
