Hello there.

Before I go creating some kind of super computer like Richerd Prior in Superman3, I've been trying to find out the maximum thermal and voltage limit for my E2140 CPU.
But no luck.
All I found was this..
http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=sla3j#
And I'm not sure how right that is to show a maximum temp of 61 degrees ?
I thought CPUs were quite hardy these days ?

Anyway, does anyone know for sure that temps and volts I should stay away from ?

Cheers

on air cooling 1.5v would be the most i would give it, the 61 degrees is a good point to aim for as a max load temp, it will take more but no reason you should have it above 60, anything over that and really should be looking at you're system cooling.

E2140 - 1.4000vCore - Totally Messed up cooling system - Stable! :D

3.2ghz at 82 degrees !!!
What cooler you got ??

I have the Asus Silent Knight.
I'm hoping to go nowhere near 82 degrees.

I like the idea of being closer to 60 :)
Running Orthos for a bit, my CPU got to 39 degrees but that's just at 1.6ghz stock.

Hmmmm..... what are my volts ?
My BIOS says its set to NORMAL with a little note underneath saying normal is 1.325
But....

These say different.

My PC just threw a wobbly at 275FSB
I know this processor and mobo can go further than that !!!

cpu-z seems to have a problem with voltages, i'd go with what the bios says.

what speed memory do you have and what speed is it running at, cpu-z will show details for that info.

check the memory you have and make sure you are giving it enough voltage.

Well you know that bit at the end of the 3rd Star Wars Film where Vader get's told Amidala is dead ?? :D

Thanks.. haven't seen it yet (not likely to but damn you :p) :D

Whose cpu is that all fried up? :D

Hey,

I've also got an E2140 - attempting some overclocking (its my first time)

How does this look? You think I could push it a bit further?
Im on stock cooling....is 65oC a bit high?

Cheers

That link doesn't seem to work !!
Also I am a complete tool bag when it comes to memory issues :D

Just had a look round my BIOS on a supposedly great mobo (Gigabyte P35C DS3R) and it doesn't list current voltages, it only asks if you want to up them in certain increments and also I can't seem to find anything about memory timings

Still... what do I know ;)

Hang on, I think I've cracked it (With a little help ;))

Bear with me...
Upping the FSB also upped the memory frequency until it was running at something bonkers. So if I up the FSB and at the same time, take the memory frequency off AUTO and try to keep it as close to 667mhz as possible, then things kinda look ok.

I'm at 300fsb now with my memory at 600mhz and timings at 5,5,5,14

Come on, am I doing it right now ??
Somebody ??
:)
