Maximus Gene V Bios Update

Yeah, I had a Gene-Z Z68 before I bought the Gene-V Z77. No problems at all with that board, everything worked fine and I had a offset profile for both 4.8 and 5Ghz.

I started this thread over on the ROG forum. if you have a login you'll see the screenshots too:

I'm not alone yet ASUS seem to be ignoring the issue.

Do you have a similar problem preventing you from using offset for 4.8Ghz?

I had the same problem I have now when I used to use an Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3 mate, basically anything above 4.6Ghz gets a bit iffy. It was MUCH easier overclocking on the Asrock though I must admit lol.

I did mess with the Gene-V when I first got it and managed to get a stable 1.38v under full load for 4.8 (using offset of 0.075 I think) and a higher LLC, but sometimes I would get boot issues (and occasional mouse not working on bootup), so gave up in the end for the sake of 200mhz as I preferred the stability.

I can't remember if I had success using fixed voltage or not though....Think I did on the asrock, but as I preferred offset clocking always aimed for that. Problem with offset clocking is that the minimum volts can change upon different boot-ups hence why I was sometimes getting problems I think.

Don't get me wrong - when I get it to boot at 4.8Ghz - it can run both prime95 and IBT stable for 24hours no problem, its just a cold boot every now and then would cause a non-boot. Missus would then go nuts ('Your PC don't work - stop overclocking the crap outta it!') so I left it - and gave up on 4.8Ghz.

One of these days I think I'll give 8 pack-a-saurus a shout to see if he'll pop over to sort it, i just cba these days lol.
