I use two MaXLine Plus II 250Gb SATA drives in a Raid 1 array.
When I first got these drives they had a jumper setting and on checking Maxtors website I could not find any information on this particular jumper.
All the illustrations on the Maxtor website only showed jumpers fitted in a vertical orientation, the jumper on my drives is fixed in a horizontal orientation on the second row of jumper pins.
The second row of pins is made-up five pins and the jumper is fitted horizontally to pins 3 and 4, I think this jumper is related a "No Spin" function of the hard drive, although I have no idea what this means!
As it my understanding that SATA drives should have no jumpers fitted I have removed this particular jumper until such time as I can find out what it does.
Anyone have any idea what the purpose of this jumper might be?
Cheers - Harryo
