I bought a Maxtor 500GB External HD a few days ago to backup my data so I could upgrade to Vista 64, and it worked perfectly out of the box, with no need to format. I have just installed Vista 64 and I went onto the Ext HD to copy over the drivers I downloaded before hand, the first one was the motherboard driver (ASUS P5B Chipset), after I restarted however, it said I need to format the HD to use it! Obviously I don't want to do that because it has my backups on there, so I clicked cancel, and now I can't use it.
How come installing chipset drivers has caused the HD not to work, they are the same drivers as I had before (maybe updated), how would I get around this?
Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind, I turned on this morning and it worked fine, so probably some vista updates fixed it.
