Maxtor Acoustic Managment

Anyone have any idea how to disable acoustic management on a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus10 300GB SATA? I found a utility for PATA drives, but it won't detect my drive.

Also anyone know if it makes a performance difference?

you could try this .not sure if it will work with your make of hard drive but i have read it also works the the WD drives

It will work and make a difference.
See my post above about acoustic management.
Have used it on all my hard drives from Maxtor to WD including ATA and SATA.
