Ive got a almost new Maxtor drive, Diamondmax21 320GB SATA. The problem I am having is that I can't get any OS installed onto it, whether I chose Vista or Linux for example. In Vista the drive will format after a long time, and the installation just hangs after that. Linux refuses to format the drive from the looks of things, its been stuck at like 5% for 2 hours.
What's strange though is that the drive passes the Seagate/Maxtor diagnostic tests.
I think I will RMA the drive, but Im not sure what response I will get as the drive is working, you can dump files onto it with windows but OS's just wont have it. Same with the drive in 2 systems.
What would you do?
