Maxtor RMA Query

Has anyone been confused by the direct RMA warranty information on www.maxtor.com.

It asks for the serial no of the drive. When entered it tells me the warranty has expired. Yet it also states that the drive comes with a 3 year warranty. The drive was only made in Oct 2004. Yet the warranty expired in March 2005.

I'm totally confused!

Has anyone else had any issues getting an RMA out of Maxtor?

Maxtor really sucks @ customer service. Had 3 pointless emails due to them not reading my initial email containing all the details required by their online RMA webpage!

Now @ the stage where they are telling me it is out of warranty even though their website clearly states it has a 3 year warranty and it was only manufactured in Oct2004.

Main reason I even bought it was because it had a 3year warranty. LOL.

As the damage has already been done (lost 20GB of unbacked up data and also damaged the MBR on my other HD with all the multiple disk management writing to try & get it working again. Had to reinstall Oses on my working HDs and restore over 140GB of data).

Not even bothered about getting a replacement anymore as it will no doubt fail again but as a matter of principal will ensure I get one via trading standards if need be. :mad:
