Maxtor SATA drivers

Ive just formated a mates HDD and im going to instal winxp , hes got a maxtor SATA drive and i wondered if i need to install the SATA drivers first , ive looked around thew maxtor but cant find said drivers , could some one point me in the right direction please :)

SATA drivers are for XP to work with motherboard SATA controller/chipset. Therefore search for them on mobo website :cool:

EDIT: Might not need to install them depening on mobo make + XP SP2, but its better to just have them in hand. & you'll need a floppy for that :)
 
As above it depends on the motherboard, and the Sata controller, nvidia controllers are supported by windows so drivers are not needed. However silicon image controller will need you to install the drivers
