Maxtor SATA II drives and Nforce4 chipset!!

I'm not sure whether anyone else has picked this Maxtor SATA II drive incompatibility with the Nvidia chipst, see this link...

Yeah i had this problem. But i (eventaully) after many emails to Maxtor customer services, got a firmware revision. Running perfect now

I had a problem with my abit sli fatality board not recognising the maxtor 16mb's ditched the board and all the probs went away

i have a maxtor 500gig drive on the way (should be here tomorrow). any links to this new firmware for the drives?

have heard its not on maxtors site

The 500giger is so new that with any luck it will ship with newer firmware.

the freakyness with maxtor drives is only meant to be on nf4 sata controllers right? if this drive is affected on those ports, then using a SIl port or an external sata2firewire enc would sort it i assume in the wait for a firmware upgrade?
