Hi Guys,

I bought 2 Maxtor STM3160211AS 160GB SATAII 7200RPM 2MB Cache, and I wanted to run them as Raid 0. However after inspecting the HDD's closer I found that the jumper settings shows that the HDD will run at 1.5G.

What I need to know is it possible to remove the default jumper (its a half jumper) and run them as 3G Stripping.

Thanks

Abz

Should work fine as far as I know. A few manufacturers ship the drives out jumpered for 1.5Gb/s as 3Gb/s currently offers very little performance increase (if any) for single drives and it avoids the odd problems with certain early SATA controllers which don't auto-negotiate the speed. Remove the jumpers and the drives should just run a 3Gb/s without any problems.

I have the new Abit IN9 32X MAX 680i mobo, hopefully it should support.

Am gonna Strip them both ( I enjoy looking at HDD's takeing off the Shell :P )
