May 8th Spring Dashboard Update

Thats it though, the next gen consoles aren't purely for gaming, they are media machines, made to watch HD DVDs, watch home made vids, view pictures, listen to music, communicate with friends oh and play games. Its not suprising that web browsing is featured on the PS.
I personally regard those features as gimmicks (apart from gaming of course), and I have to say I don't use any of them.

For example my hi-fi seperates CD player uses about 20W of power, whereas the 360 uses 200W, has worse sound quality and makes a heck of a noise, so it's an inferior music player. My upscaling DVD player uses 12W, the 360 uses 200W, has a worse picture and makes an awful noise, so it's an poor movie player, and it can only play a very small number of file types. Pictures/communication work much better on my PC.

TBH I would be surprised if many people used those extra features regularly.
- New low power downloading mode, auto-shut-off for downloads
Excellent stuff.

Apart from plugging their Windows Live ID and MSN Messenger products, does this update seem a bit "and what else....?" to anyone else?
I'm sure that's not the whole update. There will most likely be a host of other little features/fixes etc.

Also I worry about people who need to "Tell a Friend" about their achievements.rp2000
If I was a young kid and I'd just earnt some uber achievement I'd want to brag about it. :)

would be much better if they just gave us group chat.
I swear I heard them mention group chat in the video. Some while after they had finished talking about the MSN features.

Yeah but that's type chat, no group voice chat which everyone wants.

I just watched it again. They say you will be able to chat with up to 6 friends whilst playing a game or watching a movie.

To me, chat means talking.

Yeah but if you watch it, then it will show a chat box with people talking in it via typing.

yeah but, no but, yeah but....we'll have to see :)

Haha yeh we will have to, just have my suspicions that it's type chat only seeing as what i saw on the youtube video. I'd love for you to be right, group voice chat is seriously needed and would be proper mint.

I assume the MSN thing though will sign you out of MSN on the PC, that is a pain in the butt tbh

I'd like to have my friends list on MSN, but the chatting MSN folk etc i don't want. I don't wanna be playing the middle Forza 2, tight last lap and bedoop bloody msn message appears.
It would be good if it could show you xbox live status BUT just stay signed onto the PC though, that would get me interested.
