• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

May be silly question lol.

cause it was *****d.

I thought we had a swear filter on here? :)

Anyway, as a few other people have mentioned on here your CPU (if not overclocked [which is most likely]) is going to be a bit of a bottle neck for a 4870x2. However, if you do plan on upgrading the cpu sometime in the near feature (next 6 months or so) then just grab the 4870x2 and unlock it's full potential at a later date with the better cpu. Otherwise I would just go for the 4850x2 2gb as it still beats a GTX280 in most games...

Edit the swearing out.. or expect a holiday. You to Timko :p

That cpu will definately bottleneck the GPU IMO.

DX10 is a load of hot air anyway, don't get too excited about it.

This. ^^^

It's just not worth it frankly.

But a 4870 1GB or GTX260 216 would be your best bet, a 4850x2 would be CPU limited to some extent but it will yield higher resolutions and AA etc.

PS sorry for swear.

I was told though that i do not need to upgrade my cpu if i just overclock to 3.5ish which can be done with an artic cooler 7 pro i will be fine.

That will be my information then :)

The 4850x2 really is a great card for the money especially when you can see for yourself in that review it beats the GTX280. Good luck with overclocking your 2200, you'll probably get at least 3.2Ghz out of it. Anymore than 3.4Ghz and you'll have a pretty good 2200.

After feb i may have 150 for new bits not sure which quad core will be best? i would like one which overclocks well, when will their be price drops?
