Maybe it's the whole "mastered space travel and energy pulse weapons but we'll fight with swords" premise. I know it's sci-fi but that's pushing it too far.

Or the convenient open vent direct to the ship's engine core or the other multitude of plot holes.
 
Well people are always going to dislike something no matter how popular it is, the thing you have to appreciate with Star Wars now a days is just how old it actually is. At the time, there wasn't really anything of a similar calibre. It doesn't quite keep up with modern films, but it still certainly has a lot of charm, and has certainly helped many projects come to fruition through inspiration since :)
 
True, it's full of unbelievable moments. I watched Star Wars just yesterday.

When escaping from the death star, just after Obi Wan gets struck down (making him more powerful than Vader could possibly imagine) Han Solo manages to start the Millennium Falcon and launch out into space in about 5 seconds total. I counted. It takes longer than that for me to get my bike out my front gate.
