Hi chaps

I think that I am mising something, but the speeds that I am getting out of my HDD dont seem up to scratch.

I am getting approx 50MB/s from any of the 3 drives on my system, even though I think that they are all SATA 3 - I though I would get 200MB/s out of these...

I am about to start some large amount of AVCHD video encoding and am trying to optimise my system at present.

please help. am I doing something wrong? Am i expecting too much? Do I need RAID enalbled to get the best out of this setup?

Setup is:
Vista 32
4GB OCZ (2 x 1GB) 1066MHZ PC8500
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
BIOSTAR P43-A7 Socket 775 Intel P43 Moboard
Drive 0: Maxtor STM3160815 150GB (1 partition with OS)
Drive 1: Samsung SP2504c 250GB (2 partitions)
Drive 2: Samsung HD103UJ 1TB (1 partition)

you willnot get 200MB/s on any one drive (except the high end ssd) I have 2 15k sas drives in raid 0 and don't get that speed.

Yeah I barely just barely get 200MB/s out of my Vertex, but ssd's are small and expensive. They are only performance drives atm because nobody can afford to use them as storage.

you should be getting an average of around 90MB/s or so on your Samsung F1.
how are you testing them? HDtach, or just in file copys between each other, as for your other two drives 50MB/s speed average sounds about right for the end of the drive.
