Mayhem, Southend.

Nah.

I've still not been there since it's been built. Apparently it's quite a fun night, but then again there's not really much else in Southend now is there :p

Go get mugged down Lucy Road, that'll pass some time.

Went there a couple of weeks back in the VIP pods. Good night but always so crowded in there. Makes a change from talk, quite a smart club actually.

Isn't Mayhem supposed to be less chavy then other places?

I have a slight hatred for Talk. My brother was beaten up twice there last month (a week apart from each incident) which made me feel really angry, but then again I'm powerless to do anything while I'm 300 odd miles away and the fact I don't know who it was!

Doubt you would do much anyway :p

Never had any trouble in Talk personally but seen a few people get a kick in outside. I know a bouncer there and there was some quite serious trouble some months back with ******. Nasty stuff.

Yeah its a bit more up market, just so so so so busy! Can't move in there.

You clearly have no idea about me ;)

Put it this way, ever raise a finger against my family in my presence and you're dead man. But oh no, because I'm using the t'internet I must just be all mouth... pfft.

Had scuffles myself outside Chameleon back in the day. There's always some chav that wants to start something.

I might check in out in the summer then. Ugh, I just hate Southend so much now.

Mayhem's actually alright on a Monday. It's like the Brush, but clean.

I hate walking up and down those stairs drunk though. Too many colours!

Haha, fond memories of going to the Brush for first time and coming outside with mud all on my shoes and up my jeans. I remember thinking to myself "What the f..."

Cool.

Anyway, never had a bad night in Southend personally. Doesn't matter where we go its always pretty dam good :) People give it a bad reputation but for night life there is a fair amount of choice.

It's got more choice since I left for university to be honest, but compared to most places, it's still pretty drab.

Yeah, bags of choice.

Chav, chav, chav, chav, chav, or.. the alex and the sun rooms. Woo!

Shouldn't be so narrow minded and you may find somewhere else you can spend an evening. There are places much worse than Mayhem, Talk etc for chavs.

Do you not think I've been anywhere then? I happily go to most places - not Talk, I just know I wouldn't like it, but I'm happy to go most of the others. I tend not to go to clubs beside Mayhem on monday, and the Brush, as I have to be pretty hammered to enjoy most of the normal club nights. Boogie Nights on Wednesdays was only ever fun when I was off me ****.

Saying there's lots of choice though, is piffle.

90% of the places in town are either chavvy, or just lack character to such an extent that they're not really anything. They're just rooms to drink in.

The Alex is alright, but not brilliant, the Sun Rooms is a total ****ing dive, and Mayhem on a Monday is really the only decent club night in this whole town as far as I'm concerned.

As for just pubbing, I'll go pretty much anywhere, but tend to end up in Yates' with my fiancee as they have plenty of pool tables and it's not *too* scummy.

Well it is scummy, but it'll do.

The Alex used to be okay until the emo's got ahold of it as their base of operations.

Most of the pubs are pretty crap to be honest with you. They're either chavvy, expensive, 'scene' or an old-man's pub.

Talk about choice! Haha.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere once that Southend, as a conurbation has one of the worst night-life's in the country compared to its population size.

The only pubs I've ever enjoyed having a drink in were the Elms and Peter Boat.

The Peter Boat and the Smack are great pubs, I like both of them. Leigh's got a bit of a hoity toity attitude, but the fact is it's a nicer place to be than Southend.
