Spot on.

You need to get one from a prestigious business school. Like London Business school or Cranfield College.

I did a Masters in engineering at Cranfield University. The engineering department sent us all on a two week MBA taster course at the management school there. It was absolutely brilliant. Not just interesting but very entertaining too. Every single one of the lecturers was an amazing public speaker.

The introduction to the course was basically "You're all engineers. You're smart people. I'm here to teach you what you need to know about management so that you don't have to hire an overpaid and dim-witted manager to run your business for you."

If I had the money, I'd love to go back and do the full MBA course.

Ditto - I'm hoping to get work to sponsor me, or at least go 50/50 - a lot of banks will do MBA loans as generally they can recoup their costs fairly quickly. I'll have to see how life goes!

I was always under the impression that MBAs were for exactly people like us with techical degrees. Once we have some experience under our belt we can take an MBA to give us skills to become effective in a managerial role.

Slightly dubious that Oxford and Cambridge haven't made this supposed 'top 10' yet 'Bradford' has???

That source may not have been entirely up to date or accurate, but just because Cambridge and Oxford are known for exceptional academia, it doesn't necessarily make them the best business schools.

I know certainly for engineering that Cambridge wasn't always #1 depending on the course.
