MBP 17' - Brightness Controls not working

Hi all,

Enjoying my MBP but having problems with the display. When using F5/F6 to adjust Brightness it doesn't change anything. The GUI shows the indicator that it's adjusting brightness but the actual brightness is unaffected.

I can alter the brightness fine using the 'Display' in system preferences but this is a annoying problem, any ideas?

Tried rebooting with a PRAM reset?

That's the keyboard backlight

Press F1 / F2.

Yeah hes right your trying to alter the keyboard backlight, try F1/F2

Ahh my keyboard lights are F8-F10

also if the ambient brightness is too high then it doesn't allow the keyboard lighting to be enabled..

Yes thats keyboard backlight... F1 and F2 are screen brightness...
