MBP 2020 Battery Service?

So I dropped the mac into the Edinburgh store yesterday and left it with them. I reviewed a call this morning from them explaining that it is a battery fault and that they need to send it to their repair centre. It' will take 2 weeks!!!

Not happy as this is my main work horse and leaves me without my business machine for that length of time. Not ideal.

To give some context.
Most repair rooms have enough room for 2 people due to social distancing.
Prior to covid we would squeeze 8+ in there.

Because of this the repair centre is heavily leaned on as otherwise repair times would be months long.

And everyone is using their stuff more, so things are bound to be broken more, therefore demand is more.

Now realise your issue is a warranty issue, and it’s far from ideal, but some understanding would be nice.

If you have a credit card, order a replacement and use that and send it back within the 14 day return window. They can be had next day delivery from Amazon.

Also if it's your only business machine, maybe now is a time to consider a solution in case something similar happens in the future.

Yeah I am seriously considering building a custom streaming PC but I have been away from the PC market for over 10 years so its all new but having a dedicated streaming rig would be a better solution.

but some understanding would be nice.

After an entire year of social distancing I'd like to understand why the largest company in the world - a company which apparently prides itself on good service - can't arrange alternative facilities, even if it means sinking a lot of money into temporary contracts for premises.

The problem is at a store level .. you can’t just make more space.

And Brexit customs checks are delaying shipments into and out of the EU.
Exclusivity contracts can’t just be broken because of Brexit.

It’s not even close to being as easy as buying more space

In some locations only. Unless your company is very much on the super size scale.

There are, if I recall, about 12 centres which act as a base around the UK and you must be within 60 miles of these locations to be eligible.

As I said, with the exception of some super sized organisations

edit

This is communicated prior to buying the enterprise Apple care service plan though (of which there are many choices)

Interestingly enough it says support runs out next March and I'm not due a new one until next August (we have 3 year cycle for Mac's and 2 year cycle for phones).

That said, I'm derailing the thread here and I don't care, as long as my next Mac doesn't have an Intel CPU in it!

2 years coverage is a lot cheaper and what most opt for, a lot of our business customers prefer the 2 year as they tend to stagger upgrade all their devices between years 2 and 3

Think the enterprise requires minimum of 1000 devices, assuming that's what we were talking about :)
There’s some TnC’s in the enterprise agreement stating that next business day service on site may not be provided if your location is too far from a “base of operations”.
but this is removed for super sized companies as we’ll get it sorted regardless
