That's fine, I wouldn't need to use the 1080 in macOS, it'd be for Windows/gaming purposes. I think I'll pick up a Razer Core X as they're about £260 which isn't a bad price at all. The price is also somewhat offset by the fact it can charge the 15" MBP and a proper Apple charger/cable is £100 alone.
 
You need to check the external GPU actually works in bootcamp, I don't think it does....

Apple's thunderbolt implementation is not standard (shock horror).
 
There is a way, admittedly it isn't as simple as just plugging it in like it should, but it is possible to get it going with some faffing around.
