Anyone know if WD are planning or are developing a raptor like 10,000rpm drive for a laptop?

Had a thought one would be quite nice in my MBP, if not i will just got for a 7200 upgrade.

Thanks

\o/ Someone linked to a thread of mine :p

The 7K200 200Gb seems the best HD out there.

But Solid State HDs are really coming along now so a 10K really isn't worth it, and 7200RPMs are doing very well as it is.

7K200 200Gb is the king at the moment.

I want one in my MBP :( But I'll have to wait to apple to release that version!

One Via eSATA atm

Could i put one of the above in my mbp though? i know it' fiddly but i really want a nice big 7200rm harddrive in my system....

You know you're only going to notice a difference in HD speed when moving a massive file, and even then you'd probably have to time it to make sure.

I wouldnt want to sacrifice a cooler and quieter 5400 drive in my laptop for a small increase in performance.

I have a 72GB 15000RPM 2.5" SAS drive sitting on my desk at work. Obviously the SAS interface won't work with SATA (that and a 15k drive would surely melt my laptop) but it's a nice thought in the abstract...
