MBP SSD Upgrade

PH00 for the case screws.

There's no E in Torx ;)

I bought a nice little Rolson kit, with Philips, Slot and Torx ("Rolson Tools 28289 15 piece Screwdriver Set") which does the job nicely (been inside my MBP half a dozen times now and everything's dandy) and for less than 7 quid :D

So my MBP should be with me in a few days. I'll opefully be sorting out an SSD in the morning from the "crazy ssd" sale courtesy of ocuk.

Upon using Norton Ghost, should it be the samsung 830, will the MBP load as normal upon transferring contents of original HDD over to the SSD.

Im looking to do the do replace the HDD with the HDD as well as removing the superdrive in one sitting. Will the MBP recognise the HDD as a new device or what?

I'm just about to buy the base 13" MBP. I was chatting to an Apple sales guy in a purple warehouse yesterday and asked the same question. He said for £40 they would fit my current Samsung 830 256GB SSD into an MBP and install all the software. He reckoned it was a 3 hour job, which would be fully guarenteed and there were no issues about me not purchasing the drive from them.

You could do it yourself in about 30 minutes. Pick up a 2.5" drive enclosure for about £1.50 off the 'bay, clone the internal drive to the external SSD plugged into the enclosure, then fit. Honestly won't take long at all.

This said...I must say, the MBA may be a better option!

heres a benchmark for you
