Couldn't decide whether this was hardware or software but whatever (still waiting for those Mac/iOS sub forums - long, long overdue IMO)
Anyway to the point, my 2009 MBP won't boot from my Leopard disc. I've done it in the past with exactly the same DVD but this time it's just not having it. If I hold down C on boot you hear the disc spin up but then after a few seconds it spins down again and you're just left looking at a blank grey screen.
I've looked online but everything seems to suggest one of two problems: the hard drive is knackered or there is something wrong with the cd. The hard drive seems ok as it boots to desktop fine, and the cd is similarly ok as it is free from scratches and also appears in the finder without a problem.
Any ideas? I want to exhaust all my options before I take it to an apple store.
Cheers
