McAfee Virus

My dad told me a couple of days ago that a large proportion of his workplace got a virus and it started to spread.

Today he informed me that the word from the IT nerds was that the virus came from a McAfee update!

Anyone heard about this? This makes a potentially embarrassing news article.

it's not a virus as such, but the update causes mcafee to flag a part of windows as a virus.

That's in the same batch of boldness of patches as CCP eve-online patch which wiped MBRs from hard drives, rendering systems unusable..

This buggered tens of thousands of company computers not a few peoples home machines.

This is going to have quite a large effect when licensing comes up for renewal.
