MCE Graphics Card Compatibility

Does anyone know if an onboard 64MB S3 Unichrome is compatible with Microsoft Media Centre Edition?

If not, would a 256MB Radeon 9550 do?

the radeon will be fine, not sure on the s3, sorry dude.

card MUST be DX9 capable... radeon 9 series should be lowest on the ATi front, FX series with nVidia

I have used a Geforce 440mx and I am currently using a Geforce 5200 so the Radeon 9550 should be fine

9550 is fine - I had a 9200 working perfectly when MCE was released.

Yup, DX9 support is the key (ideally hardware

)....pretty sure that won;t include the S3 Unichrome......good solution now are the relatively new nForce4 'boards with integrated 6100/6150 gfx........on s754, s939 and AM2 (spot the recent convert

to integrated gfx for MCE)

Im using a GF4 mx 420 which isnt officialy supported however is working fine for almost everything, the only thing i have a problem with is playing MP4 files, which always gives an error message (which i have confirmed is due to the cards crapness), TV, Recorded TV, DVD's, AVI, WMV all play perfectly from with MCE however, this is with the MCE2005 edition.

MP4 plays perfectly on the same system in media player though.
