I've just got a Philips SRM5100 and found that it doesn't work with XP. I've found places that says it will work with the original MCE receiver but I was wondering if it would work with any irda receiver or only the MCE specific one , if anyone know please let me know! :)

Does it work for one code, and not the next sequential button press? If so you need to do the toggle bit fix for the MS remote. Restart the PC.

What do you mean one code? The usb receiver that comes with the kit isn't recognised by windows xp and I've just found out that I need a mce certified usb transceiver and I have no idea where to buy one seperately :S

I looked into buying just the MCE remote receiver a while back and couldn't find one. Probably worth having the remote as well for you to be able to teach your learning remote functions that aren't programmed in. Should be around £20-£25 for both remote and receiver from the bay. Also i'm not sure what other receivers are like but the microsoft one is very good at picking up a signal from the remote pointed in any direction.

I might just start using vista... annoying thing is the remote turns on my 360 when I try to turn off the pc lol

found that annoying when my mate lent me his 360 for a week, might be something in the options to turn it off? i'm not sure :)
