Got a call from the dealers the other day to say they had snapped the key because the locking wheel nuts had been put on too tight

They are charging me £170 to do it and said its possible that the hubs & wheels might get damaged ..Excelent
the locking wheel nuts that are on are just standard Mcguard ones

Anyone know the likelihood of them knackering the hubs and wheels removing them?

Cheers.

So they snapped the key and want you to pay to sort it out? I wouldn’t be happy with that if it was my car!

Absolutley fuming to be honest,
The wheels were fitted by a tyre bloke from Ebay who I watched fit them to the correct torque

The downside is I cant prove they were correctly fitted so they will wiggle out of it.

wtf? they are pulling your pud. It takes about 30 seconds to remove a mcguard locking nut, without using the right key.

Shame I am not very mechanically minded :)
Just hope I don't go back in on Monday to a car needing new wheels and hubs because the trainee has bashed them off with a sledge hammer.

If you have the number of the key its a lot easier though, you just need to quote that.

I have the number that came with the locks its a shame the girlfriend told them to go ahead removing them before she spoke to me

I guess a new key with mashed wheel locks wont be much good.

Apparently the garage "lazered" them off ..never heard of that before!

They said one of the wheels had got scratched

Think ill be writing a letter to Skoda UK when I get it back should have took the car in myself.

Lasered? wha? Did they show you the bits they mashed?

I am guessing ill see the wheels when she goes and picks the car up

£170 for an idiot to snap a locking wheel nut key damage the finish on one or more alloys and destroy my locking wheel nuts.

Yeah I had a quick search around for "lazer" removal of locking wheel nuts all I found was a £9 kit.

Weirdly no no warnings prior.

have you paid the £170 then ?

Nope they still got the car (they have had it since Friday!) its gone in for suspension bushes and they said the bushes keep splitting.

So I been told it will be ready tomorrow sometime guess they will want paying then shame i cant get to the garage.
