Hey everyone i have just finished college and I'm applying for jobs here there and everywhere and i have been offered a job interview on Friday which is good :D but i got a phone call yesterday from a company called "Careerjobs" and the guy on the other end of the phone was trying to sell me this pitch about how his company offer a course where they train you to mcitp standards, you attend the exams and then if they don't get you a job within 90 days they refund you everything you have paid. They charge £79 a month for "Admin" costs to use the online software and revise at home. I have heard of the mcitp but i don't know anyone that has it or if it makes a life changing difference to them like this guy kept telling me it will. I told him i would think about it and get back to him about signing up to this scheme. Do you guys think it is a good idea and will being mcitp certified help me get a job and earn more money?

Thanks in advance :D

Having an MCITP cert is a definite bonus. An MCITP including training + the exam can cost anywhere between £100-£500. Mine was paid for by my company. Not sure if I would recommend this scheme you have mentioned, but £80 month doesnt sound too bad, but you have to self study which realistically can be done for £0 if you know where to research.

I would hold out for a while mate. See how the job search goes and if that fails you can always look for alternatives. a lot of IT companies these days pay for your certs and is a massive bonus.

Hey man thanks for the reply :D i did think it was odd when he said about the exam i would have to pay for myself, when i asked him how much it was he was very un easy and said "We don't know the exact cost at the moment" i wouldnt be supprised if they wanted me to pay the full £800 for the exam. I will hold out for a bit and see what comes up :D thanks again.

jack.m do this:

Get the Self Paced MCITP training books
Register on CBT Nuggets

What spec PC have you got? If its good enough you could run VMWare/Hyper-V and do the lab work on it. You don't need to pay £100s for a course, if you want it bad enough all the training can be done with just the MCITP Self Paced training books and access to the CBT Nuggets videos.

Have a look here for more information: http://www.techexams.net/forums/mcts-mcitp-windows-2008-general/ and http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18259429&highlight=mcitp

A Microsoft MCITP certification is gained when you pass a number of MCTS exams in a particualr area.

There are many MCITP certifications available, desk support, server support, Exchange etc.

I believe that Microsoft have recently increased their exam costs and they are about £110 per exam (around that value anyway).

So the exam costs in total are dependant on how many MCTS certifications are required for your desired MCITP.

All this info is available on the MS site.

Have a look on the Certforums.co.uk website as there are a few posts about careerjobs on there, wouldn't touch them to be honest.
