McLaren 2010 F1 Launch

ooh... If the McLaren goes as well as it looks, then this'll be good. The Mp4/25 makes the F10 look really boring now...

The front looks to have a double decker wing, it looks really aggressive, yet very good looking...!!

The fin on the back is a bit of a shock, I think it looks good, overall, McLaren have built a nice looking F1 car (I think anyhow) but proof will be in how it performs on the track... We can only hope..!!

Wow, very different!

Does the sharkfin actually join up and merge with the rear wing?

The way the back end of the engine cowling engine tails of looks like there is a jet engine in there! I like!!

funniest looking McLaren since the one with the extra wing in the middle and I can't help but think this one will go down in the same history book of designs they would like to pretend never happened.

Things that strike me now from a closer look at some nice high res pictures:

1st - Shiny shiny shiny :D

Williams style splitter under the nose. More BMW and Renault influenced than Red Bull
Evolution of a front wing that was tested last year but not raced
Very tight rear end, kinda Red Bull like, but even more so.
Split air intake for the engine and I presume oil or even electronics cooling - some cooling is going on in the fin.
Exhausts appear to exit through the rear wing, will increase turbulance.
Steering arm is now inline with the suspension

There's something going on at the rear - Can't pout my finger on it with the existing photos , but I suspect that it's going to have an a lot to do with the effect of the diffuser. The entire rear of the car appears to be aimed and funneling air to it.

I can well believe that they have lowered the CofG - with 15kg extra to play with and no KERS to squeeze in it gives them more to play with.

Welcome. Trying to decide wether to use the side on in MTC or nose on shot for my desktop..

Oh, Virgin Racing to do a online launch on Feb 3rd.
Lets hope they don't use Virgin Broadband as they'll get throttled and no-one will be able to see it.

2009 / 2010 comparison. Much straighter nose and tighter rear package.

I've got to say that McLaren does look rather good. Love the front wing  I don't like the Toyota style rear fin though.

So are we going to have 2 silver cars on the grid then? Thought McLaren were ditching the silver look since Mercedes left.

That McLaren looks **** hot and very functional.

Anyone notice the bullet style caps on the Ferraris wheel nuts? Wonder if they're for show, hiding something or functional.

I also noticed its Buttons name on the McLaren. Not sure on the exhaust on there either. Maybe with it like that they don't have to worry about it popping out the body work at the top. No lop sided sidepods too.

The studio drivers shots make them look rather odd!

Cheers for the pics. The extra air intake could be to cool the fuel cell, paddy(at least i think it was him) was saying how now theres no refueling, the fuel will get very hot after 2 hours with only brief 3 second pit stops. I wouldnt be suprised if your right about the fin being a cooling aid.

Last years car had shocking rear end grip at the start of the season. Hopefully this aggresive rear end will have addressted that

anyone seen the diffuser yet? its basically linked to the lower rear wing plane, making the whole bottom part of the wing the diffuser. Very clever design, pushing the rules to the limit.

I just wonder how they are feeding it with enough air, there must be some quiet large holes under that rear end.

I'm just wondering how many complaints there are gonna be over the diffuser. Although saying that I haven't seen any yet!

According to the regulations it's 100% legal. :D The entire rear of the car has been designed to feed as much air to it as possible - it's a a work of art!
