Hey all,

Seen this deal pop up on groupon and just wondered what a qualification like this is actually 'worth'.

It's down from £2000 to £100 and I've seen it (and similar) offered elsewhere online for many thousands but what is it actually good for? Is a qualification like this a requirement/massive bonus when going for IT jobs? Does it open any doors etc.?

For the price (and relative reduction) it seems like a good thing to go on a CV for someone looking for work along similar lines, but I know little about it and wondered if anyone else knew any better?

If it's the sort of work you're after, it's gotta be worth hundred quid. It does appear to be a MCSE certificate which is pretty well respected.

It does say exams not included and content only available for 12 months. So basically, you have to finish it in 12 months or be forced to pay more and the exams may be quite expensive. So it's not really £100 all in.

Its a pointless offer as all the material is available online for nothing and the exams will cost you a lot more than the £100!

I believe you need a course certifcate for the exam though...

You didn't used too. I self studied mines years ago and doing the same again just now.

I'd take the offer if the exams were included. In fact, it was a struggle to try find where in the UK that place done exams.

Roughly how much did it cost you to do the exams?
I've seen the Cisco offer a few times and thought it might be worth a try but did wonder about the exam part.

All those sort of things on Groupon are scams that I have looked at

How they can make those claims is beyond me

In fact Groupon as a whole is very clever but most of the time a simple search yields better prices

Only thing I use is odd day out

I've actually been using itpro.tv lately and it's quite good. If you look online you can also get a 40% discount on it.

There are some free things and if not, you can just pay monthly, if you don't like it, cancel it.

It cost nearly a grand and the CCNA had been replaced with two other courses and no one was doing the CCNA exams any more (well not in my area).

MCSE: Server Infrastructure includes the following courses:

Microsoft 70-410: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
Microsoft 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012
Microsoft 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services
Microsoft 70-413: Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure
Microsoft 70-414: Implementing an Advanced Server Infrastructure

They must be having a laugh surely. Two grand for just learning something you can actually do and learn for free with Google, YouTube and a free trial of Windows Server.

If anyone was baffled enough to pay £2000 for that I'm pretty sure they must have failed anyway.

Same with the CCNA, people spend hundreds, if not a couple of grand trying to get through it when Cisco provide you the syllabus and youtube is full of videos and routers are hardly expensive.
