Hi,

Who's done a server 2003 MCSE? Which would you say was the hardest course? Ive got the books but work have said I can go on a classroom course or two, so wondering which to pick?

stay away from the cheat sites, you know the ones that give you tests and guarantee 100% pass, they might get you through the exam but in reality you won't learn much.

Yea I Think the MCDST touch's more on XP application trouble shooting like office

where as the actual XP exam in the MCSE (70-270) is focused more on the ins and outs of XP

just waiting to book my exam for 70-270 at the moment (having done a weeks classroom course) it's 95% involved with installing and handling xp itself, barely touches on using anything else on xp (i'm doing it towards an mcsa, which i may then convert but i not planning on it yet)

currently going thru the 70-290 prep book at the mo, with a course booked for the 70-291.. after hearing people on here think that the 293 & 294 are a little tough.. I am kinda worried.... :(

Depends what line of work you're going for.

The MCDST will prove to prospective employers that you can do Desktop Support, the MCSE is for Network and Server administrators.

If you can do the MCDST exams you can definately do the MCP 70-270 (first exam of MCSE/MCSA) and vice versa.

Im currently in support and doing my MCSE with a view to moving up to the datacentre team. Ive been booked in for the 70–291 course "Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure". Should I change this for one of the others?

if you haven't started yet and you are defo going for the full MCSE, I'd start with the 70-270 Win XP exam, then 290, 291, 293, 294 etc

I'd say 291 (primarily DNS) and 298 (case study exam) were the hardest.

That said I did fail the 293 once due to crappy exam technique (got 95% second time round though :D)

Oh and do a comptia security+ exam as your elective, easiest exam I've ever done :p

Ive done the Server 2003 MCP if thats what you mean?

Its pretty straightforward... I did less than 100 practice questions :p

I'm thinking about doing an MS qualification at the moment. I want to get work to pay for me to go on a course and get an MCSDT. I know its not as good as some of the higher qualifications, but its cheaper (more likely they will pay) and as Im just on the helpdesk at the moment, hope that when I'm applying for higher jobs (hopefully in the same place) at least they will know that I can do the MS courses succesfully and will take me on and send me on more training :)
