No point in re-writing a webnote I sent to OCUK earlier tonight but I thought you might all like to have a laugh at what I've done. :(

Hi there, my name is _My Real name here_ I ordered 2 items from yourselves about a month ago and I seem to be a little confused about something :S

I've only just been told that I've received the wrong item from yourself which has got myself worried. According to my order, I ordered a VTX Radeon 5870 but a friend of mine who recommended the card to me has just informed me that I've installed a 5850 and not the 5870, and while I thought he was playing some funny joke on me he has shown me that I've got an 5850 and not the 5870 which I ordered.

And what I'm now really worried about is the warranty of the card I have, and to my understanding (Well, common sense) is that because I've opened this product and been using it, I cannot send it back to yourselves, but also you won't be able to honour the warranty on the card if in future it goes faulty? Would I need to send it to VTX instead? Or would I run into the same problem where I've meant to have gotten a 5870 and not the 5850 and they won't be able to honour the warranty as well? :S

I'm not asking for you to replace the card or asking or refund me money or anything because I'll admit it's my mistake but if it ever goes faulty before the warranty runs out I'm just worried about what I need to do or if I can do anything to get it fixed? The card itself at the moment is running fine, but I noticed that I wasn't getting the speeds I thought I should have been getting on higher graphical settings and I thought I had a virus or something on my computer which lead to my friend coming round and telling me about the card etc.. :-/

If you could write back to me and confirm what I'm afraid of then please do so -- feeling a bit of an idiot at the moment..

Regards,
Tony
.

Feel like a right tool, my mate is ripping me about it, I should invest in some glasses. The stupid thing is, when I was putting the damn thing, I knew that the power connections for the 5870 were on the side and not at the back like the 5850's! :(

I really hope this card doesn't die on me because I'll really be screwed then. At least it's a decent card, but it did hurt my pockets a little, even more than the mistake I've made. :/

personally i dont think you will have a leg to stand on.

anyone could say what your saying(im not saying your lying but it is funny) and get a better card.

i do hope they give you what you purchased but you have had it a month and signed for the parcel to say everything is ok.

but ocuk do have a very good after sale's service so you might be lucky.

o ! by the way....you tool !....lol

No packaging?

Nope, I share a room with my brother as I'm looking for a new place and we haven't got any room for boxes and stuff, hard enough finding a place to put all our clothes.

Like I said, I'm not after it being replaced, I like to see the funny side of things, even if it makes me look like an idiot, haha! I'm really concerned about the warranty though, wouldn't these cards have some sort of serial code on the card itself as proof that it came from OCUK or anything?

If you have packaging it will have a code on that ocuk scan, this would prove what they sent you. Infact i'm 99% sure the invoice would show the wrong card too as it all gets scanned.

The power connections for the 5870 are on the side and not at the back like the 5850s!

If you read my original post at second to bottom paragraph, I do mention that I realised the connections were on the side for the 5870 (from pictures I've seen when I was originally buying the 5870). I never really looked at the 5850 because I just wanted the top of the line GPU, but I know there is a newer version with 2 graphics cards in one or something?

No discussion of individual orders or RMAs on the forums please.

I've looked into your order and the CCTV is currently under-going CSI like enhancement ;)

I'll email you directly to let you know what we can do for you.
