Meal Time

Doctor said I have a raging metabolism but my heart is in good shape so I'm ok.
He also said, "for christ's sake don't carry on eating like that if you ever stop exercising.." :D

You'll have to be careful as you get older though. Doesn't your metabolism slow down naturally? Could be in trouble if you carry one eating that way

Well when my metabolism slows down, I'll stop eating as much. Until then, I'm snaffing everything in sight! :D

Five meals a day during the week (when I do most of my exercise). It's fairly regular, although the last meal of the day can be fairly small and the time varies a fair bit: 07h30, 10h30, 14h00, 18h00, 20h30

Four meals a day on the weekend - no set times, it just happens - I tend to combine the second and third meals listed above.

Im a gym-go'er so about 5, sometimes 6 meals today. Trying really hard to get to 12st at the moment, but not doing so well :(

more calories should do it. regardless of how the metabolism can be you have to exceed that. Try healthy fats. Peanut butter is always a good one for added calories.

Yesterday I ate:

6am: (Big) Bowl of sugarpuffs, two slices of toast with honey, a banana, apple, muller rice, vit c tablet

750ml of a sports drink (not lucozade)

8:30am: 'Steak Bake' from greggs, belgian bun and a custard tart

10:30am: Chocolate Bar (a galaxy), two nutrigrain bars

12:35pm: Four sandwiches. Prawn, Ham n mustard, chicken, egg

Along with a banana (sometimes 2), a chocolate bar and a fruit squash drink

3:30pm: Banana, two smallish chocolate bars

4:30pm: Another bowl of sugar puffs

6:00pm: Steak, potatos, peas, mushrooms and a drink of full fat milk

7:00pm: A banana

750ml of a sports drink

10pm: Big Chinese. Egg Rice and 15 sweet n sour pork balls :D, big drink of full fat milk, muller rice. I don't have a chinese everyday as it would cost too much money but I like to eat something with a lot of rice in it, for example I made myself chicken curry on saturday, but when I say that you have to realise its like two massive bowls of it...

Bed.

I eat whatever I want whenever I want basically, as long as it hasnt got a 'low fat' label on it I really dont care. The best is when I get a two for one coupon at mcdonalds, burger king, subway etc :D. I think I go through over 2pints of full fat milk a day aswell..

If you eat regularly, every 3 hours say, it increases your metabloism and, providing the food you eat is healthy, you will not get fat.

What nonsense, it doesn't matter how 'healthy' something is, if you consume more calories than your body uses you store the energy (as body fat).

Im bulking up at the moment, eating about 7 meals a day thank goodness for the meal plan otherwise i'd be spending a huge amount of cash :D

It completely depends on the person. I eat a lot of food regularly. I eat 5 - 6 medium size meals a day. By doing this you effectively increase your metabolism and the rate at which your body can process your intake. I have eaten like this for several years. I am 6'3" and barely 12st. I haven't put weight on in over 9 years.

However, I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat this way unless they do exercise regularly.

EDIT: At no point did I mention anything about the number of calories you eat. You are pointing out an obvious fact, you are missing my point though that eating regularly increases your metabloism and your efficiency of processing your food.

If you ate 6 meals of 1,000 calories each you would pretty much certainly put on weight though.
6 meals a day isn't a panacea - you still have to consume less calories that you burn to lose weight.

Yeah even though I eat so little sometimes, I'm still a bit chunky in places (not as bad as it used to be though). I suppose it doesn't help that I never exercise and when I do eat, I eat crap (not literally :p ).

But that doesn' mean you 'won't get fat'.

I don't claim it is but with a high metabolism you will have more energy to do excercise and burn off fat?

Perhaps Gord is your man with the answer's, he gave me some sound advice once :)

Aww man, I eat like one and a half meals per day and still put on weight... And I'm only 19 :(

That's the reason your putting on weight, your not eating enough so your body goes into 'starvation mode' and keeps everything it get's. Eat small meals regularly.

Ok, if we have to be so pedantic I will adjust my original statement:

Don't ask the board for it's opinion, just ask Goatboy, he knows best *nods*

I don't doubt that is true, just in your first post you made it sound like you simply had to eat 6 meals a day and you would be guaranteed not to put on weight.

Anyway, with that I'm off to the gym and then will eat my fourth meal of the day when I get back!
