What a lot that Doctor has to awnserfor. Anyone who hasn't got there kids immunised really should.

Parents are being urged to give their children the MMR jab after figures showed measles cases have more than trebled in the last 11 weeks.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the number of confirmed cases of children suffering measles was higher than expected for this time of year.

Latest reports showed 480 cases of measles in the UK so far this year - compared with 756 cases during the whole of 2006, which was the highest year on record.

It really really annoys me when, scientists use rubbish and sudo science and then the media to scaremonger people into there thinking.. These really are awful diseases which we almost wiped out in the uk. Whats evern worse, is there's been an increase in the school holidays, leading to potential outbrekas when schools start again.

Also rather worringly is that TB is on the rise, but yes you are right when the schools go back the situation could suddenly get very bad.

I read something quite a while back about illness's in children

At a very young age your child should be out and about gettin ill for future immunities

But obviosly you cant be immune to such ones in this thread

Meh :p

The rise in TB is down to one thing, and one thing only! The 'I' word that the government refuse to address!

There is at least one client at work with it, and he refuses to see his Doctor about it to get signed off , so essentially is putting staff and other clients at risk :(

If the number of cases of measles has increased this much in the past 2-3 months, during which for the most part children have been off school, it's probably going to get much worse when they are back at school and mixing for prolonged periods with larger numbers of other children.

TB is also probably on the increase in part due to the amount of tourism, especially to parts of the world where it's more common (and the fact that most people will get there/back by air, which means sitting in a cabin breathing recycled air*, so if anyone has it, it's likely to spread)

*I believe it saves a bit on the fuel consumption compared to using fresh air.

The doctor who first suggested that the MMR vaccine should be shot.

1) Vaccines are changed and redeveloped all the time, telling parents to not now allow their administration into children is just foolish. This is especially IF (<-look at the size of that!!), there indeed was a link between MMR and autism.

2) He should know that the possible consequences/complications of MMR are far more dangerous to the child and the quality of life for his/her family then the possibility (of autism).

To the OP - no respectable scientist would use pseudoscience, Dr Wakefield has been pretty much all but discredited now. The trouble was essentially done by those that scaremongered (sic) the public. :(
